Meet the Team!
While many amazing people have contributed to this film so far, here are the folks leading the vision of this project.
Kelly Showker – Producer, Director
Kelly Showker is an emerging feminist filmmaker. She holds an MFA from Ryerson University, and a B.I.S. in Gender Studies and International Relations from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to making her first film, she worked for the U.S. Dept of State Foreign Service for eight years. Her most recent short documentary film, Etima premiered in June 2015 at the Doc Now Festival in Toronto, Canada.
Mandi Gray – Producer
Mandi Gray is a PhD student at York University in the Department of Sociology, studying sexual violence prevention programs and policies on Ontario university campuses. Gray is a co-founder of Silence is Violence, a survivor-led group seeking to challenge institutional silencing of sexual assault on campus.
Cailleah Scott-Grimes – Editor
Cailleah is an honours graduate of the University of Toronto’s Visual studies and East Asian Studies program. She strives to bridge cultural, social and technological gaps through art and film. In 2015, she directed, produced and edited her debut documentary, She Got Game, about the search for empowered women in the gaming industry.
Nora Currie – Executive Producer
Nora Currie D.U. LLD (Hon. Causa), is an activist, educator and community organizer in the area of sexual assault. She has been involved in the production and marketing of numerous films for individuals, artist-run, and government agencies including The Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre, Vtape and the National Film Board of Canada.
Deanna Lambert – Associate Producer
Deanna Lambert has spent the last fifteen years asking questions, developing strategies, and getting things done for corporations, NGOs, artists, and ad agencies (and their clients). She lives in Toronto, and is passionate about issues created by systemic prejudices. She’s delighted to join the Slut or Nut team on her first film.
